What is Painting?One Renaissance master said, "Painting is divine". Indeed, painting is divine and it is also so many other things to me, such as language; communication; puzzles; tests of patience; exercises in motor skills, meditation & prayer. Since paintings are so many things it points to one quality that they are - metaphorical. Maybe this metaphorical quality is what makes painting divine. After all, the divine is many great metaphors. For instance, the Creator is the Great Physician; the Great Artist; the Great Architect; the Great Engineer; and the King of Kings. Maybe painting is divine because like Divinity itself it takes on many metaphors. In any case, painting is an interdisciplinary activity that is a lot of fun when successfully done!
